Thanksgiving Tips for a Healthy Yet Fun-Filled Holiday!

Everyone hopes to have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. While you can sit down to a very large meal and eat almost anything your heart desires, it’s important that you eat healthy. Whether you are eating with family or spending the day ordering your dinner online, the goal is to stick to healthy eating habits and, if you can, exercise regularly to burn off those extra carbs.

Here are a few Thanksgiving tips that will keep you healthy through the festive season-

  1. Choose a Healthy Menu

    If you are in charge of planning the family dinner, try to stick with healthy foods. Visit the farmers’ market and buy fresh fruits and vegetables for your family’s dinner. A good pumpkin pie made from scratch and fresh vegetable casseroles can be just as good as the foods you buy from the store. They are a lot healthier too!

  2. Eat in Moderation

    Thanksgiving dinner will always include some of your favorite foods. Make sure you eat them in moderation. Smaller portions spaced out over a longer period of time will allow you to eat more of the foods you like without filling up too fast.

  3. Don’t Overeat

    Most of us tend to eat large amounts of our favorite foods and then feel miserable for several hours. Break up your meals into smaller portions and then eat the portions throughout the day. This way you can prevent overeating and related digestive issues.

  4. Drink Plenty of Water

    Your body needs a large amount of water to function each day. Drinking plenty of water will keep your digestive system working. It flushes away toxins and keeps you hydrated. Your body needs water for your heart, brain, and joints to work efficiently.

  5. Stay Active!

    Be as active as possible and exercise whenever you can. Exercise will help relieve stress. It will also help you avoid any unwanted calories when you eat more than you should. A little exercise will keep you stay in shape throughout the holiday season.

  6. Get Enough Rest

    Always get enough rest. Many people have trouble sleeping when they are under a lot of stress. Getting at least eight hours of sleep a night will help you stay relaxed and calm throughout the Thanksgiving celebrations.

  7. Enjoy Your Holiday!
