You can really keep your New Year’s resolutions in 2016 if you use these tips!

Can you believe it’s already 2016? It seems crazy that the new year has already begun, but we’re already a few days into it! That means you’re already a few days into working on your New Year’s resolutions. How is it going?

If you’re like us, you’ve had a hard time keeping your resolutions in past years. We want 2016 to be different, so we’ve put together these tips for sticking to your New Year’s resolutions to help all of us actually accomplish our goals this year!

Break it down.

Having one huge goal that you likely won’t be able to meet until later in the year is awesome. Not feeling like you’re making any progress on it is not-so-awesome. Keep yourself on track and motivated by breaking your big goals into measurable, realistic benchmarks. Say you want to read 20 books in 2016. Make a reading calendar that breaks it down book by book and you’ll find it easier to stay focused.

Remind yourself why.

If you’re trying to cut out processed sugar, it’s going to get hard to say no when you’re regularly tempted by sweet treats. Fortunately, you can strengthen your own resolve! Make a list of all the reasons why each of your resolutions is important to you and review it regularly to fortify your willpower.

Treat yourself.

Did you hit one of your benchmarks? Did you just score a huge (or even a small) win in your progress? Reward yourself for your efforts! Regularly celebrating your successes will motivate you to accomplish more!
